Household energy needs VS Solar energy production
Let's have a close look. This curve shows you the energy production of our PV system (on the X-axis, we have the time of the day, and on the Y-axis, we have energy production measured in units of power kilowatt-hour).
At night the energy production is zero. But in the morning, modules start to generate power. Then around midday, when the sun hits, the solar modules produce the maximum amount of energy. This is the point of the 90-degree angle between the solar modules and the position of the sun. Right after this peak, the sun starts to come down, and the production of energy decreases directly proportional to the sun's position.
We can compare his curve to the daily household energy needs and see where there is the lack of solar power or its overcoming.

What are peak sun hours (PSH), and how to calculate them for your location? Firstly PSH is the number of hours in 1 day, during which the solar irradiance is consistently 1000W/m2 (the highest production of the solar array).
PSH is a crucial factor in determining the number of modules you will need to satisfy your property's energy needs.
In the following picture, you can see the measure of PSH across the US.
Remember, solar irradiation and PSH will vary from place to place depending on proximity to the equator, clouds, geography, and other atmospheric conditions.
