Our turtle team is on the island of Nevis in the Caribbean this week! We are celebrating the 20th year of our partnership with the Four Seasons Resort Nevis to study the behavior of hawksbill sea turtles in this region. This morning, we will release a critically endangered hawksbill sea turtle with a satellite transmitter as part of the 2026 Tour de Turtles. 🛰️🐢

STC has satellite-tagged four sea turtles in the past three weeks. While the hard-shell Tour de Turtles race doesn't kick off until August 2, we thought it would be fun to check what they are up to.
To track the movements of all of the 2026 Tour de Turtles participants, you can download the STC Turtle Tracker app or visit tourdeturtles.org!
When sea turtle habitats are protected, people benefit too. Thank you Central Florida Public Media for covering the Department of Interior's recent change to how the ESA is implemented!
Your satellite tracking questions, answered by an expert in the field! 🐢
Since the early 2000s, Sea Turtle Conservancy has been using satellite telemetry research to study the movements of sea turtles across the globe. Throughout that time, we’ve received a lot of questions about the satellite attachment process, our public releases, and how we use the data once turtles are released.
Our Research Biologist, Dr. Dan Evans, answers a few of these questions here. Stay tuned for Part 2 soon!
