Just sunshine, soft noses, tiny hoofbeats, and some of the people we love most. ✨

Little hands reach for mares.

Tiny foals reach for kisses.

And somehow the afternoon slips quietly by. 🤍

There is something special about days like these.

Bare feet in the grass.

Children laughing in the distance.

Mares grazing peacefully.

Baby horses discovering the world one curious step at a time.

The kind of moments that seem ordinary while you’re living them…

until one day you realize they were the moments that mattered most. ✨

One day these foals will be grown.

The children will be older.

And this season will be a memory.

But today, it is still ours. 🤍

So we’ll hold onto every kiss, every tiny hoofprint, every sunset, and every beautiful little moment that makes a life feel rich.

So I put together photos and videos from Day 1, Day 7, Day 9, and today at Day 13.

Instead of getting answers…

I somehow ended up with MORE questions. 🤦🏼‍♀️😅

Because every time this filly sheds a little more baby fuzz, she appears to become an entirely different color horse.

One day she looks black.

The next day she looks blue roan.

Then the sunlight hits her and suddenly she looks buckskin.

And just when I think I’ve finally figured her out…

I see another photo or video and we’re right back to square one. 😂

The craziest part is watching all the stages side by side.

She has changed SO much in less than two weeks.

The UC Davis results should be back any day now…

but before they arrive, I want to hear your official prediction. 👀

At first Deacon wasn’t quite sure what to think.

I was sitting in the grass.

He was standing safely beside his mom.

And for a few moments…

curiosity and caution were having a very serious discussion. 👀

But curiosity won. 🤍

One tiny step.

Then another.

Then suddenly I was being inspected.

Which quickly turned into kisses… 😘

Then neck skritches.

Then full body skritches.

Then teefers. 🦷😂

And before long this little c**t had decided that being with me was a pretty good idea after all.

Mom stood nearby supervising the entire situation, of course. 😌

These quiet moments are my favorite part.

When they stop seeing you as something to watch…

and start seeing you as someone they trust. 🤍

Is there anything better than sitting in the pasture getting baby love? 🥰

I walked over to Deacon, called him over, and he immediately starts asking for treats.

I mentioned he might be getting a little chunky…

The audacity. 😒

This dramatic little man instantly acted like I’d ruined his entire day.

No greeting.
No forgiveness.

Just:

“How dare you.”

Then he laid down in the hay and entered his victim era. 🤦🏼‍♀️😂

Meanwhile Story happily accepted her b***y skritches and continued being the tiny emotional support fairy she believes herself to be. ✨

But then I discovered the real problem… they’re irritable because..

The horse shelter had been taken over by:

🐺 Banjo, his loyal sidekick

Neither one seemed concerned that they are, in fact, not horses.

Vlad identifies as a horse/superhero.

Banjo is just enabling him. 😂

The actual horses?

Apparently they’re on their own.
