🐴 Why do some mares eat their placenta after giving birth? 🧐

Most people immediately say…

“She’s replacing nutrients.”

That may be part of the answer—but it’s probably not the whole story.

For years, horsemen and researchers have suggested several possible reasons:

🟢 Replacing nutrients after foaling.
🟢 Removing the scent of birth that could attract predators in the wild.
🟢 An instinctive postpartum behavior seen in many mammal species.

The truth is, no one knows for certain. It may be one reason—or a combination of several.

But that’s not the only fascinating thing you’ll see in this video…

Toward the end, I show something many horse owners have never heard of—a hippomane.

A hippomane is a completely normal structure that’s often found with the placenta after foaling. It develops during pregnancy, but its exact purpose is still unknown, making it one of the more interesting mysteries of equine reproduction.

🐴🌿 Well… we’ve officially gone down the rabbit hole.

First Story claimed she discovered a magical fairy portal…

Now Preacher says he found something even stranger.

According to him, he was simply investigating a suspiciously tall w**d when the ground quietly opened up beneath it.

Not a gopher hole.

A rabbit hole. 🐇🕳️

And not just any rabbit hole…

Apparently there was an entire enchanted world hidden beneath our pasture.

He insists a white rabbit wearing a top hat hopped out, looked him dead in the eyes, and disappeared back underground before anyone else could see it.

Seems perfectly reasonable. 🙃

At this point…

🐇 The plot thickens.

🎩 We’re all mad as a hatter.

⏰ Somebody is definitely late for something.

🍄 Things are getting curiouser and curiouser.

🫖 At this point, I’m pretty sure following the rabbit is how all the trouble starts. 🐇😂

Either Preacher has been listening to Story’s fairy tales…

…or there really are multiple entrances to whatever magical world these foals keep finding.

At this point, I’m starting to think we didn’t just buy this land…

Somehow we’ve accidentally become the gateway to Wonderland. 🫠😂🐴🌿✨

After 3.5 inches of rain, the temps dropped—and the foals chose chaos. 😂

Like someone flipped the “wild child” switch, and suddenly it was game on.

Nobody could mind their own business.

Everybody had to pester somebody.

Every tail, every ear, every human… fair game. 🤦‍♀️🤣

They spent the evening testing boundaries and packing as much mischief as possible into every minute.

It’s like raising a bunch of toddlers who weigh a few hundred pounds and run on pure energy. ⚡️

After weeks of heat, they clearly decided it was time to make up for lost fun.

And honestly…

I wouldn’t have it any other way.
