Stay safe while gardening in the summer heat. Check your weather app or other sources for extreme heat advisories and avoid working in the garden during this time. When conditions are safe, you should garden in the early morning or evening, wear a hat, take breaks and drink plenty of water. Know the signs of heat exhaustion or heat stroke.

For more information on heat safety, read this UF/IFAS Gardening Solutions article https://gardeningsolutions.ifas.ufl.edu/care/weather/heat-safety/ .

You can also view this infographic and learn more about heat illnesses on the National Oceanographic and Atmospheric Administration website. https://www.weather.gov/safety/heat-illness
