A while back I sold our garage floor to a customer who had his garage full of stuff. We took a trailer to his house and emptied his garage into our trailer, completed his floor transformation, and took all the his items out of our trailer and put them back where he asked us to place them. We started our garage yesterday. It was a mess with all my band equipment, Harley, tools, and a bunch of junk. We removed the cabinets I installed myself over 20 years ago and prepped the walls for paint. We installed the slat wall on one of the walls, we chose to combine white and black because we will be hanging a Harley neon light Darcel bought me for my birthday years ago. We also installed a wall mount door opener, these are so quiet, they connect to the internet so I can open the door from anywhere. These also automatically lock when the door shuts because with a crowbar your garage door can be opened if it isn't locked. It also has a battery backup for those horrible nights when you lose power.

Ok back to the garage. My wife, Darcel, is very impressed with the quality of work and how hard our installers work, I assured her this is how they treat every customer, this treatment is not because I am an employee of Potomac Garage Solution.

Here are some of the pictures showing how much was in the garage and what is looks like now that it is empty.

On Monday we start our Garage-Ma-Hall project. We are painting the walls and ceiling, putting down a polyaspartic floor and floor molding, adding slat walls, some base and wall cabinets as well as some lockers. We have beverage coolers and a vacuum for the cars being installed. I will be posting videos and pictures as we progress throughout this journey.

Garage Door technology has improved over the years. If your garage door is over 15 years old you might not be getting all the insulation you might want. If your garage walls are not finished this might not be very important to you and would be a different discussion for another time. At the base of your door there is an insulation strip to help keep out the weather but this isn’t enough to keep out the cold, many of the older doors are made of a thin sheet of material. At Potomac Garage Solutions we offer various R values (roughly, in the context of construction, the R-value is a measure of how well a two-dimensional barrier, such as a layer of insulation, a window or a complete wall or ceiling, resists the conductive flow of heat) for your needs. The higher the “R” value the more insulation. We still offer zero insulation too.

The next thing to consider is the look of your door, is your current door contemporary, carriage style, raised planks, etc.? Do you want windows, if so, how many? If you have a two car garage with a divider you’re tired of hitting it ;-) we can remove this for you and give you a two car garage with one large opening.
