PAG 33 Wrap-Up｜Great Energy, Great Conversations
33 has officially wrapped up, and the energy around plant and animal genomics was impressive—discussions continued well into the evening.
One clear takeaway from the conference was the growing role of AI in bioinformatics, especially as researchers work with larger and more complex genomic datasets. At the same time, many conversations reinforced a shared view: high-quality experimental data is still the foundation of meaningful analysis.
We were happy to connect with researchers and partners from around the world, exchange ideas, and learn more about current challenges and emerging trends in genomics and NGS.

🎯 Think your miRNA really hits its target? Let the data speak!
Dual-luciferase reporter assays provide a reliable readout of miRNA–target interactions:
Construct WT/MUT reporters with your target 3'UTR.
Transfect cells with miRNA mimics or negative controls.
Measure Firefly & Renilla luciferase, calculate relative activity.
✅ Key insight: If the WT + target miRNA mimic shows reduced relative luciferase activity, while the MUT controls remain unchanged → your miRNA binds the 3'UTR directly.
