🚨 George Clinton Faces Revived Royalty Lawsuit Over Parliament-Funkadelic Earnings*

A U.S. appeals court has revived a lawsuit against George Clinton reopening a long-running dispute over unpaid royalties tied to the legacy of Parliament-Funkadelic.

The case, brought by the estate of late keyboardist Bernie Worrell has been sent back to Michigan federal court after the 6th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals ruled the claims may not have been filed too late.

At the heart of the dispute is a 1976 agreement between Clinton and Worrell following years of informal arrangements. Worrell, a key creative force in the band from 1969 to 1981, previously filed lawsuits in the 1980s over unpaid royalties. His estate revived the case in 2019 and 2022 after his passing in 2016.

The court found that the statute of limitations may have started later than previously ruled, allowing the estate’s claims to move forward.

⚖️ Federal Judge Allows Copyright Lawsuit Against January 6 Defense Attorneys to Proceed

Lawyers representing January 6 defendants must face a copyright lawsuit brought by jury consultant Lindsay Olson, a federal judge has ruled.

U.S. District Judge Beryl Howell rejected motions to dismiss filed by attorneys Stanley Woodward, Paul Garrity, Kira Anne West, and their law firms. Olson alleges the attorneys used her copyrighted jury-attitude report without permission in separate venue-change motions for Capitol riot defendants.

The report — originally prepared for Oath Keepers defendants — argued that Washington, D.C. jurors were biased against January 6 defendants. The attorneys claimed their use qualified as fair use and that the report’s presence on a public court docket removed copyright protections.

Judge Howell disagreed, calling the case “novel” and ruling it was too early to decide the fair use issue. She emphasized that publicly filed court documents do not automatically lose copyright protection.

“To hold otherwise would strip copyright protection from every photograph, book, film, song, or other creative work ever filed on the public docket in a litigation,” Howell wrote.

Notably, Stanley Woodward now serves as Associate U.S. Attorney General after being appointed by President Donald Trump in April 2025.
