✨ International Women’s Day Premiere ✨
Today we’re celebrating International Women’s Day with the premiere of the extraordinary short film Sister Wives — a multi-award-winning drama that has been Oscar, BAFTA and BIFA longlisted and is already capturing global attention.
Beautifully shot and deeply moving, Sister Wives unfolds into a tender and unexpected love story between two women living within a strict religious community. Married to the same man, these two “sister wives” begin to discover feelings for each other, finding connection, hope and solace in the most unlikely place.
Featuring mesmerising performances from Louisa Connolly-Burnham and Mia McKenna-Bruce, the film explores what it means for women to navigate love, identity and freedom within a patriarchal society. It’s a powerful, nuanced piece of storytelling that stays with you long after the credits roll.
Written, directed and starring Louisa Connolly-Burnham — an exceptional emerging voice in filmmaking — this remarkable short has already won numerous international awards including Best Director at the British Short Film Awards and Best British Film at the BAFTA-qualifying Iris Prize. Excitingly, the story is now being developed into a feature by the Coppola family.

Black stories. Black voices. Black brilliance. ✊🏾✨
In the United States, Black History Month (celebrated every February) honours the history, achievements, and cultural contributions of Black Americans — while recognising the ongoing journey toward equity and justice.
As our Black History Month Season draws to a close, we’re proud to have showcased powerful short films by Black filmmakers, illuminating stories of identity, resilience, creativity and lived experience.
🎬 Highlights this season:
• Underground – A gripping historical drama in which a father escapes his plantation with his daughter after her overseer threatens to sell her. Written and directed by Akil DuPont, this is a tense and moving story of courage and protection.
• Justice of the Pies – An inspiring documentary following entrepreneur Maya-Camille Broussard as she uses her culinary talents to uplift her community and teach children the joy of cooking. Directed by Michelle Marion.
• Ethan Art Venture – An enthralling mixed-media adventure from director Nuria Dixon, where a young autistic Black artist embarks on a magical journey after receiving a transformative gift.
These films remind us that storytelling is preservation, protest, celebration and imagination all at once.
📺 The Black History Month Season continues tomorrow night at 10pm ET/PT on ShortsTV USA.
Join us as we close out the month with stories that matter.
🧧✨ Happy Chinese New Year from all of us at ShortsTV! ✨🧧
As we welcome a new year filled with hope, resilience and renewal, we’re honoured to celebrate with a story that captures the spirit of perseverance at the heart of the holiday.
Tonight, tune in for the award-winning short documentary Never Fade Away from acclaimed pianist, producer and filmmaker Donna Weng Friedman.
This deeply personal film tells the extraordinary true story of her father — a young Chinese immigrant who escaped his homeland during the Japanese Invasion of the 1940s and arrived in America with nothing but his hopes and dreams. Through narration, music and dance, Never Fade Away reveals how a simple radio — and a waltz — transformed his life forever.
Featuring history-making dancer Chun Wai Chan, the film is a moving tribute to the immigrant experience and the healing power of music.
🏆 Recipient of 44 festival laurels worldwide, including:
• Flickers’ Rhode Island International Film Festival
• Paris International Short Film Festival
• Chicago Independent Film Awards
The film is also archived in perpetuity at the Bob Hope Memorial Library at the Statue of Liberty National Monument and Ellis Island by the National Park Service — preserving this powerful story for generations to come.
