CCACC News - CCACC Health Center to Host Free Virtual Health Talk on Common Liver Diseases and Preventive Care

The liver and gallbladder are essential organs that play critical roles in digestion, metabolism, and overall health. However, many liver and gallbladder conditions develop silently and may not present noticeable symptoms in their early stages. By the time discomfort or other symptoms appear, the disease may have already progressed significantly. To help raise awareness of liver and gallbladder health within the community, CCACC Health Center will host a free virtual health talk "Common Liver Diseases and Preventive Care," on Friday, June 12, 2026, from 4:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Community members are warmly invited to attend.

The health talk will feature Dr. Mo-Ping Chow, as the main speaker. Dr. Chow will provide an easy-to-understand overview of the functions of the liver and gallbladder and explain their importance in maintaining overall health. He will also discuss several common liver and gallbladder conditions, including fatty liver disease, hepatitis B and C, alcohol-related liver disease, gallstones, cholecystitis, and bile duct obstruction. Participants will gain a better understanding of the risk factors, symptoms, and treatment options associated with these conditions.

In addition to discussing common diseases, Dr. Chow will share practical strategies for maintaining liver and gallbladder health in everyday life. Topics will include the importance of a balanced diet, regular physical activity, limiting alcohol consumption, and receiving routine health screenings. These preventive measures can help individuals develop healthier lifestyles and reduce their risk of liver and gallbladder disease.

CCACC Health Center hopes this seminar will encourage community members to take a more proactive approach to liver and gallbladder health by increasing awareness, promoting early detection, and emphasizing disease prevention. Through education and preventive care, individuals can better safeguard their own health and the well-being of their families.

The seminar will be conducted online and is free and open to the public. Those interested are encouraged to register in advance and join us in learning valuable information about liver and gallbladder health.

CCACC News - CCACC Health Center Successfully Hosted the 4th Annual Charity Pickleball Tournament 美京醫療中心第四屆慈善匹克球賽圓滿舉行

On Sunday, May 17, 2026, the CCACC Health Center successfully hosted its 4th Annual Charity Pickleball Tournament at CCACC Sports. This year's event was organized in support of the PROMISE Program, raising funds for services benefiting children with special needs in the community. Through this charitable initiative, CCACC Health Center hoped to bring greater support and encouragement to more families in need.

Since its founding in 2022, the Charity Pickleball Tournament had become one of the CCACC Health Center's signature annual fundraising events. This year's tournament was jointly organized by CCACC Health Center and CCACC Sports, and was led by former CCACC Board Member Charles Chen and current Board Member Terry Hsiao, whose efforts helped unite community members in support of a meaningful cause.

Although rainy weather persisted throughout the day, the indoor bubble courts at CCACC Sports remained fully operational, providing participants with a stable and comfortable playing environment and allowing the tournament to proceed smoothly without interruption.

Notably, Mr. Charles Chen and Mr. Phil Zen, Deputy Director of CCACC Sports, personally formed a team named "Soo Love" to participate in the competition. Board Member Terry Hsiao and Timothy Chi also led teams in the tournament. Mr. Chih-Hsiang Li, Director of CCACC Sports and CCACC Co-founder, attended the event in person as well. Mr. Steve Chen, President of the Chien Kuo High School Alumni Association, once again showed his enthusiastic support by participating in the event. Throughout the tournament, both new and longtime friends gathered together, creating a warm and lively atmosphere.

The PROMISE Program was jointly established by a team of special education specialists from the University of Maryland, CCACC Health Center, and Speech Garden. The program is dedicated to providing structured social skills training for children with developmental delays and special needs, while also offering parents professional support in caregiving strategies, resource navigation, and advocacy services.

CCACC Health Center emphasized that children with special needs and their families require ongoing support and attention from the broader community. Only through mutual care and collaboration can a more inclusive and compassionate environment be created—one in which every child is empowered to reach their full potential and shine.
