So, you’ve purchased a new home...now what?!

Lots of people are eager to get started on remodeling and decorating right away. If it’s at all possible, I recommend to wait 6 months to a year living in your new space to understand what you want/need. However, sometimes that’s just not possible; in that case I believe hiring a professional is your best bet.

Understanding how you want a space to feel and function becomes my priority when working with new homeowners. This often dictates the furniture layout, what I consider to be the “map” of our project. From there I am able to create a design concept that incorporates my client’s aesthetic...often with a little push of the envelope for good measure.

Take this dining room from one of my favorite projects. The client wanted to be able to entertain up to 8 guests comfortably, so we created an expandable dining table. She wanted wine storage, so we incorporated a wine cooler in the customs buffet. I wanted drama, so we painted the whole space a rich color and added a 9’ tall custom china cabinet.
