Admission is free. The museum is open Wednesday to Sunday and by appointment on Tuesday. The museum is open Thursday-Saturday from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m.

Celebrate with a look back at Montgomery County’s dairy roots! When the Metropolitan Branch of the B&O Railroad opened in 1873, local farming changed overnight. Farmers could finally send fresh dairy into Washington, D.C. without risking spoilage. By 1912, more than 1,200 small, owner run dairy farms operated across the county, with Gaithersburg serving as a major hub for the early morning “milk train.”
