This job in Silver Spring, Maryland was for the installation of two egress windows and a basement for a nice married couple who is having a newborn, and was finishing their basement to add more habitable space light, and ventilation and make the basement safe with a legal bedroom. The client selected a 30 x 60 Wital European tilt and turn window with Boman Kemp Well for the first window, and the second egress window was a 48X48 twin Wital European tilt and turn window, with a tan Rockwell elite window well and polycarbonate cover.

The job didn’t need engineering as both windows were in new locations where there were not existing windows and one was next to an I-beam with a point load. We provided the drawings, the structural engineering and everything all the way through the finished product. The only thing we did not do was finish work inside as they had another contractor doing their basement.

The clients were very happy and said that the space was dramatically changed with the light and ventilation that was now added to the once dark and musty basement. This increased their habitable space in their home by almost double by utilizing that unfinished space in their basement - just by adding a few egress windows. We also had to add a sump pump system to each window as the drain tile was in bad condition.
