Advancing social justice and building power with working class Vietnamese and immigrant communities ✊

04/11/2026

For Orange County youth leaders who participated in the nationwide school walkouts for immigrant justice, organizers, and students who want to keep the momentum going or learn how to get involved—this gathering is for you!

VietRISE is bringing together students from across the county who have been loud against ICE’s corruption and harassment of our communities, along with youth who are curious about getting involved in this movement.

We invite you to a space where you can discuss, ask questions, and learn about what we can collectively do to help protect and bring justice to immigrants.

Earlier this month, VietRISE joined the youth strand of the 2026 Teaching for Justice Conference, hosted by Educate to Empower. Educators, youth, and community organizations came together with one goal: strengthen how we support and build power with young Asian Americans.

Our Youth Programs Coordinator, Dwight Hua, spoke on a panel about what it takes to truly engage youth—not just as participants, but as leaders shaping their own growth.

The most powerful moments came from youth themselves. Vy, a former participant and now intern, shared her journey of leadership and challenged educators to create real opportunities for young people to lead, take risks, and grow. Elaine and Tracy joined youth leaders from AAYL and Pictoversity to close out the program, offering concrete ways adults can support youth in navigating hard conversations and organizing around the issues they care about.

Thank you to the students: Elaine, Nguyen, Tracy, and Vy who shared with honesty and clarity—and to Educate to Empower, Cal State Fullerton, and all the partners who made this space possible.

Growing as an organization comes in many forms, and one of them is how we present our work through digital means. After months of work, we are thrilled to unveil our completely revamped digital home, VietRISE.org.

Ever since our beginning in 2018, our goal has been to establish ourselves as a central platform for organizing and political change in Little Saigon and Orange County. As we continue to focus on more international solidarity work with Palestine, fight against the deportation of refugees, address the evictions displacing Little Saigon’s elders, and engage in national work with organizations around the country who are waging similar calls to action tackling the current state of affairs, we knew that in order to reflect that online, we needed to rework our site.

We invite you to browse, learn about our campaigns for housing justice and against deportation, explore our political education and leadership programs, see our collective impact, and take the next step to build power with us.

Swipe to preview and check out more at the link in our bio.

Huge shoutout to the Excelsior Creative team for bringing our vision for our website to life!
