Forecasters at NOAA’s Climate Prediction Center, a division of the National Weather Service, are predicting above-average hurricane activity this year — which would make it the seventh consecutive above-average hurricane season. NOAA’s outlook for the 2022 Atlantic hurricane season, which extends from June 1 to November 30, predicts a 65% chance of an above-normal season, a 25% chance of a near-normal season and a 10% chance of a below-normal season.
For the 2022 hurricane season, NOAA is forecasting a likely range of 14 to 21 named storms (winds of 39 mph or higher), of which 6 to 10 could become hurricanes (winds of 74 mph or higher), including 3 to 6 major hurricanes (category 3, 4 or 5; with winds of 111 mph or higher). NOAA provides these ranges with a 70% confidence.

NOAA predicts another active Atlantic hurricane season. For 2021, a likely range of 13 to 20 named storms (winds of 39 mph or higher), of which 6 to 10 could become hurricanes (winds of 74 mph or higher), including 3 to 5 major hurricanes (category 3, 4 or 5; with winds of 111 mph or higher) is expected. NOAA provides these ranges with a 70% confidence. The Atlantic hurricane season extends from June 1 through November 30.
“Now is the time for communities along the coastline as well as inland to get prepared for the dangers that hurricanes can bring,” said Secretary of Commerce Gina Raimondo. “The experts at NOAA are poised to deliver life-saving early warnings and forecasts to communities, which will also help minimize the economic impacts of storms.”

Hurricane Predictions 2020
"It only takes one storm to significantly disrupt your life,” stated FEMA Deputy Administrator Joseph Nimmich. Preparing for the worst can keep you, your family, and first responders out of harm’s way.”
The CSU Tropical Meteorology project team predicts 16 named storms during the Atlantic hurricane season, which runs between June 1 and November 30. The research models indicate as many as eight storms will become hurricanes and our will reach major hurricane strength (Saffir/Simpson category three or higher). This outlook anticipates major power outage events and points to early homeowner preparedness as a key aspect for surviving the storms with resilience.
We often are asked; What is the best way to clean my solar panels?
First try if your garden hose alone does the job. If a lot of dust and dirt has accumulated you might need to clean more thoroughly. Fill a bucket or spray bottle with warm water and soap – no other special equipment is needed. Clean the surface of the solar panel with a soft cloth or sponge. NEVER USE COMMERCIAL CLEANERS!
However, unless you live somewhere with high amounts of smog, dust, dirt or sand blowing around, solar panel cleaning is generally not necessary. In most cases, occasional rain will be enough to naturally and safely keep your solar panels clean and free of debris that could lower production.
We are always here to help if you have any questions!

A standby generator system is only as good as those who installed it. All Southeast Power installations are inspected - after the work is complete - by one of our Generac Certified Commissioning Technicians. It's their job to dissect every aspect of your new system, making sure it's nothing less than perfect.
