Happy to report that my clients just got their school district to revise their child’s placement to the (appropriate) least restrictive environment! This process started in May and was just finalized last week! This was not easy, and the frustrations, anxiety, and discord between family and district placed a heavy (not to mention expensive) toll on them. If you are the parent of a special needs child, don’t stop advocating. Remain diligent in fighting for what’s in your child’s best interest, and trust your gut. I always tell my clients, “You don’t know what you don’t know” and districts will not always be forthcoming with the information you need to make informed decisions.
