Captain and the lambs checking each other out. We keep halters on them, because they are not tame and are a challenge to catch if they get loose.
Big Momma had the last calf of the year on 5 July. A little heifer.
Now that first cutting is done we are spreading a 10-30-32 fertilizer mix to our hay fields to restore potassium and phosphorus that is removed when harvesting hay. Hopefully, it will give a little boost to second cutting as well as next years crop. We will also spread manure on the hay fields after second cutting.

Baling and putting up small square hay bales in humid 90+ degree weather is not for the faint of heart. Big thank you to my farmhands Justin Boling and Chaz Michael Michael yesterday. Farmer Mike couldn't keep up with them and had to call it quits after 3 loads in the cow barn hay loft. Farmher Cindy Davisson Burgett and I filled the rest of the barn at 0530 this morning. We will do it again today and maybe Wednesday. Stay safe out there farmers.
