We celebrated the first National Black HIV/AIDS Awareness Day in 1999, which was started by grassroots-educational efforts to raise awareness about HIV and AIDS. This we uplift and highlight the voices of the HIV moment. We continue to thank those HIV activist, advocates, organizations and leaders who do the important work to aid in prevention and treatment in Black communities.

The Universal Declaration of Human Rights states that ‘every human being is born free and equal in dignity and rights”. Today, to honor Human Rights Day, and every day, we must remain committed to striving for freedom, dignity and justice for not just our LGBTQ+ community, but all of humanity.
