Time to pass an increase in the minimum wage so people can cover their basic needs: food, shelter, clothing, utilities, transportation and healthcare.

"
So, why aren't employers paying a living wage and why are our federal and state minimum wages still at $7.25 an hour?
The fight for $15 an hour is no longer enough. It’s time to fight for $20 Amazon, Starbucks, Best Buy, and Walgreens are among the companies that now pay most or all employees $15. It was a long, hard fight, and it's still not enough.

MLK Day March and Program on Jan. 16
A march to honor the MLK Day holiday begins at noon Monday, Jan. 16, at the Williamson County Courthouse, 710 S. Main St. After meeting on the north side of the Courthouse on Seventh Street, there will be a seven-block march to Macedonia Baptist Church, 206 Martin Luther King Jr. St.
A program beginning at 12:30 p.m. at Macedonia Baptist Church features keynote speaker Dr. Belinda White. The march and program are sponsored by the Georgetown Fellowship of Churches and are free and open to the public.
