Bluegrass Burro Rescue

Ashlyn and I are competing this week at NAN, a North American National Model Horse Show competition. People come from all over to compete in this highly prestigious competition, and we had to qualify in other shows to even be there. The competition is so difficult!
That said, my models were not doing well yesterday. No ribbons to show for the days of work I put into my models, so yes, I was discouraged.
But wait! Of course Ashlyn and I had to show our Longears! Ashlyn took a top ten ribbon with her donkey model “Oliver”. HOORAY!!
Then “Dusty” owned by Kammy was called as Reserve Champion! Wait, what?? A National Champion??!!
To some, it’s a plastic donkey, no big deal, right? But this particular model, a really old Breyer Model Horses Brighty, was abandoned in a dusty old barn before I got him. He was caked in dust.
I got thinking- “Dusty” really represents what we do here at Bluegrass B***o Rescue! Donkeys that are neglected, abused, in rough shape? We take them in and give them a new life, just like this little plastic donkey. In the end, every one of our rescues deserve a championship ribbon, just like this guy. 💜💜💜
