Lately, Georgetown Police Communications has received MULTIPLE calls stating that Georgetown Police Officers have been calling citizens and stating that they either have a warrant out and need to pay, or that they missed a jury duty or court date, and they must pay a fine or go to jail. Georgetown Police Department will never call you asking for payment for anything.

If you receive calls like this, please hang up and call our non-emergency line at 512-930-3510. The numbers these scam calls are coming from are different each time, so please be aware.

Red flag on a first date: they ask for your PIN number to ‘“verify who you are.”’ Just as you’d steer clear of that question on a date, be cautious with similar requests via email, phone or text. Trust your gut and learn to spot the scams:
