Most folks never really see what it cost to keep a service company running.
After nearly 30 years in this business, we’ve learned something the hard way…
the numbers matter.
When you look at a job like a valve replacement, it’s not just “parts and labor.”
It’s materials, trained technicians, insurance, trucks, fuel, tools, office staff, scheduling, marketing… and yes, a small profit so the company can actually stay in business and keep improving our inside customers (our team).
The reality is — sometimes we get called expensive.
But most of the time, that comes down to one thing:
a lack of understanding of what it truly costs to operate a small business.
What’s tough to watch is how many new companies jump in without knowing these numbers at all.
No grip on overhead. No plan for growth. No margin for mistakes.
And unfortunately, a lot of them don’t make it.
We’re not perfect, but we’ve been around long enough to know this:
if you don’t understand your costs, you won’t be around long.
This breakdown isn’t just about a valve…
it’s about what it takes to show up, stand behind your work, and still be here years later.
And that’s something we take seriously.
