Carl Shafer Towing
Carl Shafer Towing is a local owned and operated full service towing business. We have been in business since September 2010. Can't go? Need a tow?
The rumors are not just rumors. May 31, 2025, at midnight, will be the official end of Carl Shafer Towing, LLC. I'm retiring from the full-time towing business. The sale of my RAM rollback is pending, awaiting financing to come through. I was planning on going until the end of 2026, but after doing some math, decided I would be as well off to sell the newer truck, and quit early. I am taking a PRN job at Ohio Valley Manor transporting residents to Doctor's visits, for medical tests, and other outings. I've been on their insurance for a while now, sometimes driving their handicapped accessible bus. I'm removing myself from all the police rotations. I will miss the challenges that some of the crashes have brought up, but I will not miss getting up in the middle of the night to tow an OVI, driving under suspension, or a crash where there's no insurance. People think you're getting rich when someone abandons a car, and it becomes yours. In most cases you're lucky to get enough to cover your time towing it in, and the second tow to the scrap yard . I've met a lot of good people in this business, and have become friends with many of them. I appreciate all the support the community has given since I started in 2010, and hope to retain those friendships.

Just in from a single vehicle crash on SR774 near Pride Hill Rd. I spoke with the owner, and he appeared to be fine. The fire department cut out the windshield to get him out.

Just got unloaded after getting what was reported as a white pickup in the ditch on Hamer Rd. As I came up on it, it didn't take long to see it was more than that. Sheriff's deputies, life squad, state patrol, and Duke Energy were all there. This GMC pickup went off the left side of the road and hit a utility pole, breaking it off, then slid sideways with the back end against another pole and guy wire. I had to work with the guys from Duke to get the truck out. They had to cut the anchor off at the ground after I slid the truck over to take tension off the guy wire. Not sure on injuries, but I don't believe anything serious.

Just picked up a 2017 Buick SUV from an accident at SR 125 at SR 505. The Buick pulled into the path of a late model Chevy Blazer.
