The National Weather Service in Louisville has issued a

Tornado Warning for... Northeastern Scott County in central Kentucky... Western Harrison County in central Kentucky...

Until 430 PM EDT.

At 351 PM EDT, a severe thunderstorm capable of producing a tornado was located near Williamstown, moving southeast at 30 mph.

HAZARD...Tornado.

SOURCE...Radar indicated rotation.

IMPACT...Flying debris will be dangerous to those caught without shelter. Mobile homes will be damaged or destroyed. Damage to roofs, windows, and vehicles will occur. Tree damage is likely.

This tornadic thunderstorm will remain over mainly rural areas of northeastern Scott and western Harrison Counties, including the following locations... Robinson, Colemansville, Breckinridge, Alberta, Renaker, Rutland, Berry, Boyd, Stonewall, and Antioch.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

TAKE COVER NOW! Move to a basement or an interior room on the lowest floor of a sturdy building. Avoid windows. If you are outdoors, in a mobile home, or in a vehicle, move to the closest substantial shelter and protect yourself from flying debris.

Torrential rainfall is occurring with this storm, and may lead to flash flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded roadways.

We’re closely monitoring the potential for severe weather across Scott County on Tuesday.

Current forecasts indicate a line of strong to severe thunderstorms could move into our area early Tuesday afternoon through evening. The primary threats include damaging straight-line winds, heavy rainfall that could lead to localized flash flooding, large hail, and even an isolated tornado.

While there is still some uncertainty regarding the exact timing and impacts, now is a great time to review your severe weather plan, make sure you have multiple ways to receive weather warnings, and secure any loose outdoor items before storms arrive.
