Supplements!
-
Do you find yourself wondering if you should be taking some kind of supplements or what to take?
Maybe coming from an informercial, friends talking, or maybe even professional recommendations.
-
Supplements do just that, supplement. If your body does not get adequate X which is necessary for Y function, then your body may not be working as good/efficient/etc as it can. There are many ways to get specific nutrients in your body, supplements is one of them and there are different demands person to person.
-
Be on the look out for a newsletter on the Fitness Beyond Training website! We will be expanding on this subject and hopefully arm you with information to help navigate your decisions. While you’re at it, catch up on your knowledge with the ones on there! 😃

Do you do the basics? Or does it all seem complex?
-
Getting the basics consistently done over time is one of the secrets to success. In whatever!
Before one worries themselves with:
-What’s the best exercise for X?
-How much is the optimal amount of X nutrient (protein, fat, carbs, vitamins, etc)?
-what’s the least amount of time I can get this done in?!?!
You should maybe start with some other recognitions/thoughts/questions like:
-Do I train consistently/do something to better myself?
-Do I pay attention to what goes into my mouth?
-Is the time you’re spending making you and/or the ones around you better/happier/etc?!?!
-
It is easy for some to start overthinking things and forget to do the basics. Take some time to think about the basics (write them down) and ask yourself if you’re accomplishing them or need to learn how to be better at doing so.
Examples:
-Adequate good quality sleep
-Proper nutrition to fuel your bodies needs and support the tasks you ask of it.
-Proper hydration for same reasons as nutrition
-Physicals/mental/social/etc stimulus that will allow your body to maintain it’s current state, or have positive growth from it
-The list can go on…
Each one of these bullet points can be broken down into the nuances if necessary. The point is, if you’re thinking about these things without getting them done one way or another, it’s time to start.

Have a great day and stay safe folks!

Hydration!
-
As we’re continuing to dip into these hotter days, hydration becomes increasingly important. A few considerations to think about:
-How high/low is your activity level?
-Do you sweat a lot? Relatively.
-Can you create constant access to a hydration source? (Ie. Water bottle and such)
-
Hydration involves a variety of factors, with a few we can control. “Drink more water” is a good place to start but may lead to its own problems.
Think about it. If you taste your sweat, does it taste like plain water? It should have a slightly salty taste. That salty taste is partially minerals being excreted with your sweat. If you continue to intake plain water as you constantly sweat, that can lead to issues as well.
-
Take a look at what you eat and figure out if you’re getting minerals (salt, calcium, potassium, etc). If so, consistently drinking water throughout the day, along with your nutrition, may be enough to keep a proper balance. As simple as a small salty snack prior to activity along with water may suffice.
Add in long bouts of exercise, heat, intensity, or mixture; And you will compound those factors. THAT is when using other sources to “hydrate” may be beneficial. Think electrolyte drink powders, drinks, and the like.
-
Don’t wait to hydrate! Keep that sponge saturated 😁
Stay safe and happy training!
