We are currently experiencing an outage on 2 of our 3 fiber trunks, which may result in noticeable bottlenecking some areas of our network depending on local usage.

Please accept our sincere apologies for the inconvenience - having 2 fiber trunks down at once is virtually unprecedented - an extremely unlikely and rare event.

We will keep you updated here as we get more information, and when the outages are resolved.

Current status 3:00pm: For one trunk down since around 1:30pm, we have not yet been provided with any updates. For the other, down since around 10:30am, the carrier has narrowed the outage down to the LEC, and the ticket has been transferred there for further troubleshooting.

Update 3:29pm from our provider for the fiber outage which started at 1:30pm:
"Our type two provider is in the process of dispatching technicians and we're awaiting their results of OTDR testing. We currently do not have an ETR, but will provide updates as received."

OTDR testing is performed to narrow down where along a fiber run the break is located, so that a crew knows where to inspect (via digging up the fiber trunk, or checking poles for aerial runs).

Update 3:33pm from our provider for the fiber outage which started around 10:30am: "Our engineering team has reported that your services are being impacted by an outage due to an internal routing issue. They're currently investigating the issue and should have your services back up soon. We currently do not have an ETR, but will provide updates as received."

Update 4:04pm - The fiber outage which started at 1:30pm is resolved, so there should be no performance issues in any part of our network related to the remaining fiber outage. If you are experiencing any problems, please give us a call for troubleshooting at (512) 257-1077.
