For those traveling today between Phoenix and California, note the alert for... possible hail and even a tornado!

With modest instability, strong wind profiles, and elevated moisture, there will be a marginal risk for hail, strong gusts, and possibly a tornado this afternoon through this evening. Best severe chances will be along & just ahead of the cold front from the lower Colorado River Valley to just west of Phoenix as shown in this Storm Prediction Center outlook. Though not in the marginal risk, strong storms still could move into Phoenix tonight.
