The first car radio was invented by brothers Paul and Joseph Galvin on June 1st 1930. The Galvin Brothers' radio was expensive, costing $130 at a time when a Ford Model A cost $540. In todays time a high end radio is expected around $2,500.
The radio was powered by two high-voltage batteries under the passenger seat, plus the car's battery. Galvin brothers, sold their first car radio product under the Motorola brand name.
