The New Jersey Office of Homeland Security and Preparedness’s (NJOHSP) See Something, Say Something campaign, encourages the public, law enforcement, first responders, and public- and private-sector partners, to stay alert and report suspicious activity.
In preparation for the FIFA World Cup, if you notice suspicious activity, speak up and share the 5 Ws—who, what, when, where, and why—with local law enforcement. In an emergency, don’t hesitate to call 911. If you see something, say something.

PRESS RELEASE
May 16th, 2026
On the morning of May 16, 2026, at approximately 8:50 a.m., the Glen Ridge Police Department was notified of a vehicle traveling east on Bloomfield Avenue at a high rate of speed. The vehicle was wanted in connection with a felony carjacking out of Jersey City.
Due to the ongoing Eco-Fair at Ridgewood Avenue, officers responded to the area to ensure the safety of pedestrian, vehicle traffic and to secure the intersection. While in the area, officers observed the suspect vehicle approaching the intersection. As it neared the intersection, the vehicle traveled into the opposite lane of traffic and then struck a westbound vehicle, causing it to become disabled.
The occupants of the vehicle immediately fled the area on foot. Glen Ridge officers engaged in a foot pursuit of the suspects and apprehended one adult male. With assistance from the Bloomfield Police Department, Montclair Police Department, and Essex County Sheriff’s Office, a perimeter was established in an attempt to locate the remaining suspects. After an extensive search, the perimeter was released and the scene was turned over to detectives. The vehicle was not being pursued at the time of the incident and crash.
The driver of the other involved vehicle was transported to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries. One Glen Ridge officer was injured while apprehending the suspect.
Naski Jones, 21, of Montclair, was arrested, and charges remain pending at this time as the incident remains under investigation.
The Glen Ridge Police Department will provide updates as necessary. There was no further impact to the Glen Ridge Eco-Fair and Arts Festival.
