The Commonwealth lost a giant today. I did not get the opportunity to serve alongside Sen. Shirley Kitchen, but I am certainly working in the Legislature she helped to mold and am continuing to fight the fights she dedicated her life to.
Legacy, Senator Kitchen. You have left quite a legacy. Rest well.

Today marks the 62nd Anniversary of the Civil Rights Act of 1964. Signed into law by President Lyndon B. Johnson, it outlawed segregation and discrimination based on race, color, religion, s*x, and national origin ⚖💛
On this day, we must remember how far we have come as Americans and recognize how much work remains to be done to protect the rights enshrined in the Civil Rights Act and to ensure equality for all Americans!
