🤩 Tis the season for our program gardeners to see the fruits of their labor! This tiny gardener harvested her very first snacking cucumbers from her Grow Bag Garden this week and we loved hearing about it from her mom!

💚 Thanks to community support, we were able to more than double the number of people receiving container vegetable gardens through our Grow Bag Garden Program this season, which makes it possible to grow food with healthy soil and healthy, container-specific plant varieties in smaller space.

Stay tuned for more harvest updates from our community!

🥬 It's not just Gloucester's elementary schoolers getting in on the leafy greens this week! Yesterday, the Gloucester High School Garden Club donated 28 bags of salanova lettuce to The Open Door's corner market this week, all cultivated by the Club in their 10-garden bed veggie garden, supported by Backyard Growers.

Together, we're increasing equitable access to high-quality, fresh produce for all.

🤩 Kiddos were all smiles at this week's Salad Days Taste Test at Plum Cove Elementary School! 🥬 Students Kindergarten through Grade 5 harvested the leafy greens they planted as a group back in April. The next day, Backyard Growers and a great crew of parent volunteers served them up for a lunchtime Taste Test.

This seed-to-fork experience is a lynchpin in the Gloucester school calendar - every spring and fall, students eat from the garden they cultivate alongside our team, getting their hands dirty, learning where their food comes from, and trying new foods as a community.
