This morning, I was discussing business with a friend and that friend who's in the industry asked me, have you thought about adding HVAC or other services to your list?

As a matter of fact, YES. I have thought about it extensively. Especially since my Brother in law is a master electrician, my next door neighbor is an electrician, and I love HVAC and have a several friends in that industry.

Friend: "so why haven't you done that?"

Brandon: The reality is that type of business just isn't compatible with our sales culture and process. I had the pleasure of running several large pest companies. All of them typically have dedicated sales people who make a very low minimum wage base and actually feed their family based on commissions. Some of the sales individuals were the brightest people I knew in pest control, but the reality is, them feeding their family meant convincing every family they met to give them $$. My desire for SERVE ICT has always been that we are known by our reputation of doing quality work. I have seen the commission process dilute that in this industry. Our customers have been loyal to us because they are the top priority. We are not a sales focused culture, we are a people focused culture. Our growth comes not because of sales initiatives, marketing, or the fastest call back times. Our growth is driven because doing the right thing, is the thing that matters.

As we approach the 10 year mark of Serve ICT later this summer, I just want to take a moment and say thank you. Few people have had the privilege of building a quality Pest Control Business basically on word of mouth only. You're everything to us! I summed up this conversation with my friend as this following line: Bigger isn't Better, Better is Better.
