In the 1980's New Orleans' Lake Pontchartrain was too polluted for fishing and recreation. Few thought it could ever be saved, but efforts to restore the waters proved wildly successful. Up until this week, the lake played host to swimmers, boaters and fisherman; but now the BP Oil has breached the safeguards and exposed Lake Pontchartrain to an uncapped assault.
