Congrats to Tonic Trails client, Shannon, for completing the Silverton Alpine Marathon! Shannon was worried about how well she would perform during the race as she was dealing with some pretty serious pain in the right hip flexors and knee. After dealing with several injuries in the left leg, her right leg and hip have become stronger in order to compensate for the weakness on the left. This has lead to quite the imbalance in the psoas, quad, TFL, and low back. Combine that with sitting all day at work and attempting to add in some cycling for cross training and we have one very upset leg! So glad we could help her get to the finish line! 🙌

It’s time to celebrate!! We are about to hit our 1 year anniversary in our new location!!

I’ve done some very difficult things in my life. The top 2 include quitting drinking almost 11 years ago and 3 days of labor while giving birth to my son. I can now add moving Tonic Trails to a retail location to this list. Taking this on by myself has been quite the challenge physically, mentally, and emotionally.

Despite the challenges I show up every day, step out of fear, and do the work before me so that we can continue to offer our incredible talents to all of you. It is not easy finding qualified massage therapists who are not only skilled in neuromuscular therapy, but who are also kind, excellent communicators, and responsible. I turn many candidates away and I feel so thankful for the current staff at Tonic Trails. We’ve had some laughs and some tears. Most importantly, they have shown me such grace as I learn how to be a “boss.”

Running a small business is not easy and can be scary at times. There is no time off for a small business owner. There are many sleepless nights wondering how to keep the business going. The current economy is also not helping. Going up against the bigger chain stores with lower prices (that pay terrible wages) makes it challenging as well. Arnica is in full bloom up at 9000 ft! Did you we know we sell THE BEST arnica oil at Tonic Trails? I wild craft the flowers in a secret spot here in CO, there’s miles of it, then the flowers are soaked in mason jars of oil and placed in the windowsill for 3-4 months allowing the sunshine to extract all of the medicine. Arnica oil is used for inflammation, bruising, and sore muscles. We have lots of clients who use it religiously for arthritis pain. We sell it in the shop for $25. The other stuff you can buy in the store does not even come close to this in effectiveness.
