Where the Mountains Meet the City
“Since the early 1990s, the Genesee Foundation recognized how important it is for neighbors to work together to reduce wildfire risks,” said Allen “Through its enduring efforts, this community provides a clear example of what it means to be a successful Firewise Community.”
— Gallamore, District Forester for the CSFS Golden District
Genesee Foundation is a beautiful, covenant-protected residential community located in the foothills above Golden, Colorado. Its 883 homes are nestled in 2,000 acres of spectacular mountain property, of which 1200 acres are set aside as open space where elk and deer are frequently seen. To preserve Genesee’s natural appearance, lot-line fencing is not permitted and architectural controls maintain an easy co-existence with nature. Views are protected and, depending upon where your home is located, they may include downtown Denver and the plains, Mt. Evans and the continental divide, Bear Creek Canyon and the Arapaho peaks. Genesee is also one of only a few Firewise communities in the country, with an active forest health management program and, because outdoor lighting is subdued and regulated, the dark night skies are spectacular.
