📚✨ New Resource Available in Step Into Our Stories!

We are excited to share a new Literature Guide featuring Powwow Day by Traci Sorell (Cherokee), with beautiful illustrations by Madelyn Goodnight (Chickasaw).

Powwow Day tells a powerful story of resilience, family, community, and healing through the eyes of a young girl preparing to return to the powwow circle. This Literature Guide helps educators engage learners in meaningful conversations about the significance of powwows, the strength of Indigenous communities, and the importance of cultural continuity.

Through discussion prompts, learning experiences, and opportunities for reflection, this resource supports literacy development while inviting learners to explore Indigenous perspectives, lived experiences, and the many ways communities come together to celebrate culture and belonging.
