An Upstream Ambassador is someone who champions solutions that stop pollution before it starts. Rather than focusing only on cleaning up trash after it reaches our rivers, lakes, and oceans, upstream advocates work to reduce waste at the source through education, better practices, and smarter policies.

Our founder, Shelly Alves, is proud to serve as an Upstream Ambassador through the 5 Gyres program. She brings this philosophy into everything we do at Nor Cal SUP—from our youth camps and race team to community outreach and shoreline cleanups.

When kids learn to love the water, they also learn to protect it. Through hands-on experiences, environmental education, and stewardship activities, we’re helping raise the next generation of paddlers, advocates, and caretakers of our waterways.
