As seasons change, I believe it is time to change my role with First Friday Friends. At midnight tonight, the First Friday Friends website will close.
My season, like yours, has changed.
In some ways, I feel I’m more connected than ever to what our children face and will face in this world. The old question that initially started First Friday Friends, “How do I raise my daughter to be in this world and not be like this world?” is still very relevant.
Yet, my role is different. (In a really cool way!) I have a new grand baby!
You can read about all these changes in the blog below. If the link to the this last blog (and adorable pictures!) does not work, then please email me at [email protected]. I'll send you your own personal update.
This has been an incredible journey and season of life, and I’m so thankful to have had the privilege of sharing it with you!
Seasons | First Friday Friends Life has been a flurry of change since August, 25 2018. My daughter, Elizabeth, married an amazing man, Paul Tran.

Our daughter just got married this August. It was such a special time. Tom’s - her daddy, my husband - favorite moment was when he and Elizabeth were sitting in the limo outside the church waiting to go in for the ceremony. They had those special moments to visit before the wedding started.
Those special visits started when Elizabeth was in 9th grade. Tom and Elizabeth had a breakfast date every week all through high school. She would come home from sleepovers to have breakfast with dad. He would leave golf games early to have breakfast with his daughter. It created a bond that lasts a lifetime.
This book by my friends, Barrett Johnson and Jen Johnson , will guide dads and daughters into deeper conversations and build a bond for life.
Even if you don’t have a middle school daughter yet or maybe yours is in high school - this is s book to read. It’s never too early to start and never too late to begin having those heart to heart moments with your daughter.
5 Easy Ways a Dad Can Connect With His Teen Daughter's Heart Smart dads can still have a huge impact during this challenging season.
