We are gathering to connect and celebrate the legacy of former UNC sociology professor, Dr. Ford Cleere, who taught at UNC from 1967-88. Dr. Cleere was an inspiration to his students, including undergraduate/graduate alumnus and Greeley local, Dr. Walt Francis. Several years ago, Dr. Francis established the Ford Cleere/Walt Francis scholarship for graduating sociology students with a passion for social justice. At this event, we will reflect on Dr. Cleere’s legacy, discuss the impact of the Cleere/Francis scholarship and donations, highlight some of our exceptional alumni, and share the ways in which students and faculty in Sociology and our Social Research Lab are looking to the future.
