Dog Hair on the Floor

I’ll be completely honest—I am always so nervous to post an original. It’s putting yourself out there in a way that’s much more vulnerable than a one-take cover or a song just for fun. But being uncomfortable is important because it’s a way to grow, so here goes.

I was inspired to write this song by my dog Maisy, my best friend who brought so much joy into my life over the last decade and a half. While pets may cause chaos in your house—wrecking furniture, leaving toys everywhere, and tracking in dirt—it’s part of what we sign up for as pet parents. Those are merely side effects of the playfulness, friendship, and happiness they share with us while we have them. What a gift it is to clean up after a dog, because it means they were here.
