Local Green Bay firefighter overcomes deadly infection to reach powerlifting nationals After battling a flesh-eating disease that nearly cost him his arm and possibly his life, Green Bay firefighter Nick Verstoppen engineered an incredible recovery to compete at powerlifting nationals.

I got a say it’s been a long time of training with this guy! I would go into battle any day with this human as over the years we have trained together, competed together, and most of all been there for another. Not too long ago Nick had a major set back- to say the least. When I went to the hospital to visit him I wasn’t sure if he would ever be back on the stage, or even be with us. God willing he’s here and yeah well Nick is doing what Nick does;)..

I’m not sure how to say how proud I am of his work ethic cause he thinks that’s dumb and corny- 🤷‍♂️. Same here buddy, we aren’t that different👀. Either way this guy busts his ass and does way more than many I know and still gets the work done. I know you don’t like to be in the spotlight like me but you deserve it, proud of you and happy as hell you’re on that stage again!!
