This February Lake Mills School District secondary teachers used professional development time to collaborate in content teams.

The task? Authentic conversations around literacy and defining what a desired state of literacy looks like for their subject area and context.

Teachers put all their learning about content literacy to work as they made a plan of action for second semester.

When districts have a shared goal around literacy it opens up the possibility to have meaningful conversations which lead to work that both vertically and horizontally aligns growth in and across subject areas.

It was a rich day of learning, collaboration, and planning.
