Every job requires skills. But for many autistic adults, it also requires something most people never see: the need for coping strategies!

The demands of the workday sometimes require moments to pause, regulate, and reset before continuing.

This doesn’t mean someone isn’t capable. It means they’re working hard in ways that aren’t always visible.

That’s exactly why Printed by Hope exists.
Our workplace is designed to help autistic adults succeed while recognizing that everyone sometimes needs the space to regroup and keep going.

When you order a shirt, you’re helping create sustainable employment opportunities where autistic adults can earn a paycheck, develop job skills, and demonstrate what they’re capable of when given the right supports!

Every order makes a difference. ❤️
If you’ve been thinking about grabbing one of our shirts, or need custom apparel for your business, school, or event…this is your sign!

“Art is not what you see, but what you make others see.” — Edgar Degas

This week’s art camp gave our students the chance to create and explore new skills. We love seeing what they come up with! 🎨

Fire alarms and fire drills can be especially hard for autistic individuals.

For many the alarm can be physically painful, terrifying, and completely overwhelming to the nervous system.

In that moment, a person may cover their ears, freeze, panic, drop to the floor, run, or struggle to process spoken directions.

Some may not understand why they have to stop what they’re doing, leave a preferred activity, or let go of a favorite item.

And in a real emergency, those challenges can become dangerous.

Autistic individuals can be at higher risk during emergencies because it may be harder for them to evacuate quickly. That’s why fire safety should be practiced intentionally.

In ABA therapy, practicing fire safety can look like teaching what the alarm means, rehearsing how to leave the building safely, practicing walking to an exit, and building coping tools, and step-by-step routines.

Safety skills save lives! ❤️💛
