Often we gaslight ourselves because others have repeatedly gaslit us. When someone gaslights us we question ourselves, and develop cognitive distortions such as: “I’m dramatic”, “I can’t trust how I feel”, or even “I don’t deserve good” 😕
You can’t always control someone else from gaslighting you, but you can recognize and prevent their actions from further impacting you by being aware and reframing your thoughts when you start to gaslight yourself.
If nothing else know that your feelings are valid, your experiences are real and true from your view, and even if someone experienced the same situation differently that doesn’t invalidate your own experience 💛
