Officers responded after a witness saw a houseless individual violently slam his dog to the ground and strike the dog’s head against the pavement. 💔

They found the dog, a Husky, limping but with no other visible injuries. 🐶 Gresham PD comfort dog Tagg shared his water while officers looked into the incident. 💧🐕

Animal Control arrived and took the dog for further care and evaluation.

Marquel Phillips, 30, was lodged at MCDC on suspicion of:
• Animal Abuse in the Second Degree (ORS 167.315)
• Carrying a Concealed Weapon - Knife (ORS 166.240)
• Outstanding warrants out of Colorado

Please give a warm welcome to this feral mama and her 4, one-week old babies that we took in on Sunday.
We trapped mom on Sunday in Estacada, by luring her with her babies.

Mom is not a fan of people right now, however, she’s more scared than angry from what we’ve observed. We’re giving her space to decompress and care for her kids, because they need her.

As of right now, we have about 20 kittens in our care and we could really use some kitten food! Both wet and dry.
