Kickstands & Octane is a community-organized motorcycle meetup that gathers here every other Sunday, bringing together riders over great coffee and conversation–all while supporting a local business.

If you've been looking for a welcoming motorcycle community or just want to admire some incredible bikes, check out their schedule. The group meets every Sunday, alternating between Main Ground Coffee and Grumpy's Coffee Garage.

When I created Main Ground Coffee, I knew I wasn’t just building a coffee shop.

I was building something I hoped would become a meaningful part of Groveport. A place to meet a client, gather with your team, study, work, grab breakfast with a friend, have lunch with family, or simply slow down and connect.

And I want to say this upfront, we love seeing people use the space this way. That was the point.

But for this space to continue existing, it has to be supported.

Our building has history. It has seen different seasons, different businesses, different people, and different chapters of this community.

In fact, the name Main Ground came from three places. Coffee gets ground. We are on Main Street. But the most meaningful reason is this: this is our main ground.

This is where we grew up.

This building was home to Little Italy for 44 years. Before that, it was my grandparents’ grocery store, Chuck’s Little Giant, back in the 60s. And before that, it was Smith’s Home Market, dating all the way back to the 40s.

So when we stepped into this next chapter, I saw more than four walls and a storefront. I saw family history. I saw community history. I saw a place where people had gathered for generations, and a place where they could gather again.

That was the heart behind Main Ground.

From the beginning, every part of this space was intentional. We purposely put power outlets near almost every chair because I wanted people to actually use the space. Work from it. Meet in it. Build in it. Connect in it.

The buildout was extensive, and honestly, more expensive and challenging than most people will ever know. It came with unexpected costs, long days, hard decisions, and plenty of moments where it became bigger and more complicated than we planned. But we kept going because I believed Groveport deserved a space like this.

And I still believe that.

I’m proud of what we built, but more than anything, I’m proud of our incredible barista team. They are the heartbeat of Main Ground. They greet you, make your drinks, prepare your food, learn your names, remember your orders, and create the experience that makes this place feel special.

Recently, we have noticed an increasing trend of people coming in, using the space for extended periods of time, holding meetings, working, studying, or gathering, without purchasing anything.

I want to say this with a lot of respect: we love that people feel comfortable here. We want Main Ground to be a community space.

But community spaces still need community support.

Every drink, breakfast sandwich, pastry, lunch order, and cup of coffee matters. Those purchases help us pay our team, keep the lights on, maintain the building, care for the space, and continue creating the kind of place this community deserves.

So my ask is simple.

When you come into Main Ground to work, meet, study, gather, or enjoy the space, please support the business by purchasing a drink or something to eat.

Main Ground was built for Groveport. It was built with intention, risk, sacrifice, and a lot of heart.
