Maidenhair Fern

These ethereal and delicate ferns have a reputation for being difficult, so if tou have one currently, or want one in the future, read on for the best tips to keep them thriving.
Maidenhair Ferns grow in the wild in very damp and humid conditions, such as behind waterfalls. To mimic this indoors, water them frequently so their soil is always moist (without letting them sit in water) and group them with other plants, mist frequently, or place them near a humidifier. They don’t like direct sun, so somewhere with indirect or very diffused light is best (again, think of the light they’d receive from a shaded cliff face). They don’t need fertilizer very often if at all, and can handle normal household temperatures as long as a heater isn’t blowing on them. And that’s pretty much it! Don’t be afraid to try these beautiful plants for yourself, they’re worth it 🌿

Calathea Rufibarba

If you’ve struggled with calatheas before, we recommend this variety to boost your confidence. Rufibarba is not as delicate, signals when it’s thirsty, and has a fun fuzzy leaf that is unexpected! Typically calatheas enjoy medium to low light, high humidity, and consistently moist soil. Rufibarba can handle brighter light, regular household humidity, and you can water when their leaves start to curl inwards. Plus they’re pet friendly!
