SEJ has had a fun (and busy!) spring including a trip to New York City, an opportunity to speak with Nate Burleson on CBS Mornings, planning for TOMORROW’s Juneteenth event at the Q House, and we completed our final member meeting of the school year with a special Juneteenth outing!

We’re excited for everyone to see what Summer 2026 has in store for the SEJ and community! ☀️

We’re excited to take part in this years Juneteenth celebration presented by the Descendants of the CT 29th Regiment!

This Saturday, June 20th from 12 pm to 6 pm at the Dixwell “Q” House

There will be live performances, games, a basketball tournament, and art activities for all ages! There will also be free health screenings with YNHH.

Thank you to the all the partners who helped bring this event to life for the New Haven community. We hope to see you all there, don’t forget to visit SEJ at our table!

‼️ SEJ’s July 2026 Summer Intensive applications filled up in just a few days, so we’re opening the applications back up to accept MORE students who want to better their schools and community!! The deadline to apply has been extended until June 26th. Apply ASAP, as space is limited!

Each students will receive a stipend and a certificate for their participation. DM or email us with any questions ✊

May 17th is the anniversary of the landmark Brown v. Board of Education decision, which deemed racial segregation in U.S. public schools a violation of the Fourteenth Amendment — which established citizenship for everyone born in the United States, regardless of race.

We use this day to honor past organizers and activists, who worked tirelessly to gain the rights we have today, and to ground ourselves in the knowledge that we will win, as long as we keep fighting!
