“Honestly, if I wasn’t here, I’d probably be a super senior failing and going nowhere in life… that’s genuinely how I’d put it. Without this program, I wouldn’t be where I am right now.”
At Hamilton High School, the CORE program is not just about completing coursework — it’s about people.
It’s about teachers who sit side-by-side with students.
It’s about relationships built on trust, consistency, and care.
It’s about making sure every student knows someone is in their corner.
For seniors Noah and Miley, that support has made all the difference.
CORE is designed to help students recover credits, stay focused, and receive the individualized support they need to earn their diploma. It is more than just a program — it is a second chance, a support system, and for many students, a turning point.
Noah has also been able to continue building toward his future through Hamilton’s partnership opportunities, attending the Careerline Tech Center's Construction program this year while staying on track academically.
Stories like Noah’s and Miley’s show the powerful impact of meeting students where they are, believing in them, and giving them the tools to succeed. 🖤💛

History Came to Life for Hamilton 8th Graders this week!
Students in Mr. Houghton’s class stepped back in time today as part of their Civil War unit, experiencing what a typical day in the life of a Civil War soldier might have looked like.
Class began outdoors as students assembled to the sound of a traditional bugle call—just as soldiers once did in camp. After learning about the daily routines and hardships faced by soldiers, students worked together to prepare hardtack, a simple flour-and-water ration that was commonly eaten during the war.
Cooked over a small outdoor stove, students even tried softening the rock-hard crackers with water before tasting them—just like soldiers once did.
To wrap up the experience, students reflected by writing letters from the perspective of a Civil War soldier, describing life in camp and connecting their hands-on experience to the realities of history.
Experiencing this history lesson firsthand is something these students won’t forget.
Great job bringing history to life, Mr. Houghton! 👏🖤💛
