• A welcoming, relaxed neighborhood atmosphere
• A chance to connect with friends, neighbors, and new faces
This event is made possible through a grant from First Financial Bank in partnership with CREA, helping us bring more opportunities for connection and celebration into Hamilton’s neighborhoods.
Bring a chair, bring a friend, and come be part of something special."
17STRONG-Hamilton handed out it's second quarter Pride in Place Award to Bob Harris and SECA for the work they do in their neighborhood. The Pride in Place Award is a quarterly honor recognizing Hamilton businesses, nonprofits, churches, and organizations that demonstrate a strong commitment to their community.
From 17Strong:
"The South East Civic Association (SECA) has proudly served Hamilton's Riverview (Second Ward) and Jefferson (Fourth Ward) neighborhoods for more than 30 years. As the longest-standing neighborhood organization in Hamilton that remains active today, SECA has been a consistent advocate for residents and a driving force behind efforts to strengthen community pride and improve quality of life.
SECA was created to provide an additional voice and extra set of eyes focused on the betterment of the South East community, helping make the area a better place to live, work, and play. Over the years, the organization has led numerous initiatives focused on neighborhood cleanliness, beautification, safety, and community improvement. Their work has included community cleanups, streetscape enhancements, and projects that help create welcoming public spaces. One of their most recognizable contributions is the Hall of Fame at Bailey Square, which honors individuals who have made a lasting impact on the South East community.
SECA has also made youth development a priority by providing scholarships and supporting opportunities that invest in the future of local students. Through volunteerism, advocacy, and a deep commitment to their neighbors, the organization has helped build stronger connections among residents while preserving and celebrating the unique character of the Riverview and Jefferson neighborhoods.
For more than three decades, SECA has demonstrated what it means to take pride in place. Their dedication, leadership, and continued service have made a lasting difference in Hamilton and serve as an example of the power of neighbors working together for the common good."
