Today our younger campers tackled the question: How are mysteries solved?
We stepped into the role of forensic scientists as we gathered evidence, analyzed clues, and used science to solve puzzles. Campers began by identifying mystery chemicals and powders through careful observation and simple chemical reactions. Next, they revealed hidden messages using turmeric as an invisible ink indicator, discovering how chemistry can uncover secrets. We also explored the unique patterns found in fingerprints, learned the different fingerprint types, and practiced lifting our own prints just like real investigators.
To wrap up the day, campers had the chance to tie-dye their camp shirts, but you’ll have to wait until Friday to see the final results. Some mysteries are worth keeping a little longer!

Our older campers were a force to be reckoned with today! After learning more about what force can do, it was time to work on lessening its impact in a collision. Campers came up with a wide variety of ways to dampen the force of impact on an egg in our classic egg drop. Between spreading out the force of impact, slowing down the moment of impact, and looking for ways to suspend the egg and move the force of impact beyond it, we had lots of successful landings to celebrate! Otherwise, it was back to programming robots today as several groups completed our initial robot challenge. This is how we !

Today our younger campers explored the question: How are animals engineers?
We discovered that animals are incredible problem-solvers and builders in the natural world! Campers kicked off the day by engineering their own beaver dams and learning how these amazing animals shape their environments. Next, they designed and built slider nests inspired by the homes animals create for protection and survival. We also explored how different bird beaks are perfectly adapted for different jobs, experienced how echolocation helps certain animals navigate their surroundings, and put our wildlife knowledge to the test with a fun animal challenge.
